About Dennis Duolee (dʉː.ɔːˈliː)

Dennis Duolee is a Swedish artist whose artistry moves between surrealism and naïvism. In his works, he combines strong colors, playful narratives, and intuitive image creation.

Duolee has been working as a professional artist for over a decade and has exhibited his works as well as collaborated in art, fashion, and science. His multidisciplinary artistry includes The Quantum Art Project, developed through collaborations with Stockholm University and KTH, as well as a long-standing collaboration with fashion designer Göran Alfredsson.

Since 2019, dry pastel on brown paper has become a characteristic medium in his artistry. His works explore the borderland between fantasy and reality, where spontaneous thoughts, observations, and everyday encounters often shape the final motif.

Dennis Duolee is based in Stockholm and continues to develop a distinctive visual language where curiosity, color, and playfulness are at the center.

The Exhibition

This year I have let impulse guide the way in my creative process.

Unlike previous years, when I have worked more deliberately from narrative ideas, this year I have tried to do the opposite. I have held back my intentions and paused to take in what arises – a sudden thought, a feeling, or a funny comment from a friend can become the starting point for an entirely new motif.

By allowing the impulse to come before the decision, I have broken with my previous patterns in terms of color, form, and the ideas behind the works. I have not worked towards a predetermined theme, which has given me a sense of freedom from the demands of precision and overthinking – and sometimes even from the need to know where the image is headed.

From that freedom, something unexpected has emerged – a fondness for the sudden, the unplanned, and the slightly cheeky. A feeling that has been there from the beginning and has quietly found its way into every work in this collection.
